Our Nero...

bushguitar.gif

I try really hard to not allow the politics to show up here, but the way we (or rather, our administration) are handling things in New Orleans is atrocious. Here is a photo of our fearless leader (taken yesterday), adapting a page from Roman Emperor Nero's playbook. The people of New Orleans, and other Gulf Cities, need basic life support; food, water, shelter, and someone to restore some order. It makes me so angry to see our response time is 5 days.

The Mayor of New Orleans had this to say:

"People need to get off their fricking asses and get me some goddamn resources. We are sitting here on day five of the US's worst natural disaster and people are still dying. All I need is a couple of hundred extra troops and buses, it's a national disgrace."
- New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, September 2nd

Which may, or may not be in response to this comment by House Speaker Dennis Hastert:

"It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars to rebuild a city that's seven feet under sea level"
- House Speaker Dennis Hastert discussing federal assistance for hurricane-devastated New Orleans, September 1st

Please make a visit to redcross.org or another reputable charity and do what you can.
