Five Questions With: Fielding

fieldingPoster.jpg1. WHAT WAS THE FIRST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?
If my memory serves me right the first record (actual vinyl) that I bought was “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie. I remember being made fun of b/c I only listened to the first side. The reason for this bizarre behavior was I loved side one so much that I couldn’t bring myself to turn the record over. Eventually I did, but it took awhile.
The first cassette tape I bought was U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” (the live at Redrocks show). Since that day, I have never missed a U2 release. But, I can’t remember which one was first, Bowie or U2.

arcade_fire_funeral.jpg2. WHAT IS THE MOST RECENT (GREAT) RECORD YOU’VE HEARD?

Arcade Fire "Funeral" has earned the ‘great’ moniker. I like it from beginning to end and it has definitely received the most spins this year. I keep coming back to it.

3. WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START MAKING MUSIC?
You know that U2 tape I mentioned? That started things. As a kid I was really inspired by Musical Youth as well. All the kids on the street bought different colored plain sweaters and cut the sleeves off to look like them. The problem being we were white, didn’t play any instruments, and weren’t sure what “duchie” (spelling?) was.

Fielding02.jpg4. DO YOU HAVE AN INDIE RECORD SHOP STORY/MEMORY?
Of course, fielding’s instore at fingerprints! Other memories have been supplied by the wonderful indie store scenes as depicted in “High Fidelity.”

5. IF YOU WEREN’T A MUSICIAN, WHAT WOULD BE THE NEXT RUNNER UP?
A college professor. In fact, I still plan on that happening one day.
