MISHKA and THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS (Double Header)
Thursday, March 16th - 6:00pm
Mishka is an acoustic reggae artist of who's debut CD earned the quote "sound(s) like the work of a young Sam Cooke mixed with shades of Bob Marley and that indefinable something that heralds a great pop record."
His music is a blend of topical folk, and tropical reggae, all delivered with a sincerity that reminds one of John Butler or Ben Harper. Mishka has toured with artists ranging from The Roots to Slightly Stoopid and has been a fixture at national reggae festivals including Long Beach's own Bob Marley Day Festival.

Beautiful Girls are a band that I first heard while visiting Australia a few years ago; at the same time Jack Johnson was taking the Northern part of the world by storm, Beautful Girls was doing their thing South of the Equator. TBG built a reputation for their positive, feel good music, with the tang of the sea as an underlying flavor; the release of their US debut finds them incorporating some of the darker colors in their paint box. Nonetheless, they'll have you longing for the weather on the postcards at the liquor store.
