Damn, Damn, and Double Damn.
I’m just getting word that The LA Record is closing up shop. If you missed this sadly short-lived publication, it was a weekly event around the store to see which classic album (or not so classic in a few cases) they would recreate each week, using a local band and a handful of props. The above version of Surrealistic Pillow features our local favorites, Greater California (which the bright-eyed will notice features a few Fingerprints alumni). Anyway, the light on the horizon is the folks who put the paper together have assured us they will back with a new magazine soon.
RIP – LA Record, it was a fun run.
All of the back issues are available to check out at Open (the bookstore) on the corner of Broadway and Linden, downtown or at the LA Record site.
