ALEXI MURDOCH -- FREE INSTORE
ALEXI MURDOCH – Friday, June 9th 7:00pm
Hopefully you were lucky enough to catch Alexi Murdoch on his last stop here at Fingerprints. His blend of music that is at once breathy, understated, melodic, and brooding was a definite high point in our history of in-stores. Up until a year or so ago, Alexi was a fellow Southern Californian who not only played numerous shows at The Troubadour, the El Rey, and The Hotel Café, but who also enjoyed big love from KCRW, including an in-studio session, had one of his songs in the film Garden State (though not on the soundtrack), a song in a Honda ad, and some play on the arbiter of all things cool, The O.C. So, I guess the gist is you’ve had a lot of chances to be exposed to Alexi’s music, but many of them without actually knowing it was him, which is why I will strongly encourage you to click the link below and listen to a couple of the songs on his myspace page. Alexi is touring to support his newly released album, Time Without Consequence, and in a show of love for indie record shops, like Fingerprints, he is only playing record stores his first go around, so if you want to see Alexi where he shines the best, in a live setting, please make plans to join us for this special event.
Here is some recent press:
“Alexi Murdoch makes timeless acoustic music, stuff that would have sounded relevent 30 years ago (or more), and stuff that will still resonate as long as we listen to music. Time Without Consequence is just the beginning, really, for this singularly talented singer and songwriter.” - Dan Reed (WXPN)
“He may be a bit genuine for these post-ironic times, but when he wraps you in the familiar blanket of acoustic guitar and Nick Drake–like strings, well, if you're honest with yourself, you kinda swoon a little.” – The Stranger
“Haunting lyrics and minimalist Folk melodies reminiscent of Nick Drake.” - Entertainment Weekly
