Donavon Frankenreiter -- FREE INSTORE
Donavon Frankenreiter June 7th 12:00 (noon) – Lunches welcome
Professional surfer, and Billabong poster boy, Donavon Frankenreiter once again trades his surfboard for a fret board and this time out brings some crazy funk to the mix. After getting his start opening shows for Jack Johnson, Donavon released his self-titled debut album on Jack’s Brushfire Records and hit the road. Now, with a little bit of road time under his belt, he returns with a new record, a new label (Lost Highway), and a new-found soulfulness that leads him from the feel good folkie campfire straight into a Sly Stone house party; while still embracing his barefoot hippy roots, Donavon now adds a feather boa and a purple hat to his repertoire. Hopefully, if you were able to catch Donavon when he played here last time, you have an idea what a good time he is live, but if not, this is your chance to spend a lunch hour that is truly a break. Lunches welcome, so order up something from Open Sesame or Z Pizza (call it in and pick it up on your way).
Here are some recent press quotes:
“a lively cross between Marvin Gaye and classic Motown, mixed with an up-tempo blend of Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and Michael Franti beats.” – FasterLouder.com.au
“a dance-jam with a summer vibe” – Miles of Music
