Rocco Deluca -- FREE INSTORE

Rocco.jpgSunday, October 13th 2:00pm

Being a Long Beach local, Rocco has been on our radar for quiet some time and I am happy to report that, after much schedule shifting and several moved attempts, we will finally be able to host this outstanding local artist. Rocco’s music is a heady blend of melodic acoustic blues and slide playing, with a soaring, yet vulnerable, voice. He has spent time opening shows for Blues legends Taj Mahal, , Robert Plant, and John Lee Hooker, all the while quietly building his own slow-burning sound; a sound that has gotten him the opportunity to play with Johnny Cash, the opportunity to be the first release on Ironworks Music, a label owned by Kiefer Sutherland and Jude Cole, and has now gotten him a spot on our humble little stage (okay, so maybe those aren’t exactly in ascending order…) Anyway, here are some press quotes and below that a link to listen. Please join us for this free event.

“The singer's voice shifts from a ghostly Jack White/Jeff Buckley style to the more deliberate howling of Robert Plant and the Cult's Ian Astbury… There's a slight but consistent bluesy feel to this music that grounds it, in the same way as the White Stripes and Zeppelin reference the genre, but in a far less overt manner.” – All Music Guide

“I’ve not heard music interpreted in this way since Nirvana, and before that, Led Zeppelin…This guy is something special. He was born to do this. – Kiefer Sutherland speaking to Q Magazine about Rocco Deluca

“It’s a brooding effort that introduces DeLuca’s soft vocal style while slow-building into some almighty guitar solos that provide the Dobro with a tremendous spotlight. The listener should be hooked immediately…It combines foot-stomping blues with elements of acoustic folk in a way that’s not disimilar to recent Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.” – Indielondon.co.uk

“…(the film features) the dynamic DeLuca -- wailing Robert Plant-style vocals to sliding Dobro guitar riffs -- as a soulfully intense talent who fuses jazz, rock, blues and folk elements to potent impact.” – Variety (review of the documentary “I Trust You To Kill Me”)
