Every once in a while an artist comes along and changes your personal landscape, it's rare, but there is nothing better. Ask any of us here at the store about Joseph Arthur and you're likely to find a trail of crumbs that lead back to a lot of changed personal landscapes. With Nuclear Daydream, Joseph has taken some evolutionary leaps. Historically, he has created albums loaded with perfect to near-perfect Dylan inspired songs wrapped in everything from delicately constructed guitar spider webs to walls of densely layered sound. With Nuclear Daydream, his first on his own label, Arthur has realized what seems to have been a long-term goal; he's made a band album. It's a big beautiful thing and we couldn't be happier to have Joe back for his fifth visit. This will be a live performance followed by an autograph signing.
You can grab a listen to some of the new album at Joe's Myspace page.
Some recent press:
"[A] dark, Velvet-y set that reads adieu to a strung-out lover...with shimmering guitars and Arthur's ecstatically woozy falsetto. (Grade A-)"
- Entertainment Weekly
"Arthur is still writing seamlessly melodic, slightly psychedelic tunes, often thickened with atmospheric reverb or distant electronics."
- Magnet
"With lush instrumentals, spacey soundscapes and occasionally brooding vocals, NUCLEAR DAYDREAM is a fitting title..."
- CMJ
Also available in the store: Joseph Arthur "We Almost Made It" a full color, hard cover book of Joe's art, which comes with a fantastic 21 track (mostly) instrumental CD.
