Fresh off an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, we will be hosting an acoustic in-store with Silversun Pickups, and you're not going to want to miss it. Hailing from just up the road in the Silverlake neighborhood, Silversun Pickups are watching the planets align, Rolling Stone called them "one to watch" after listening to their fuzzed-out blend of My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins, their song "Lazy Eye" from their full length Carnavas is getting a ton of attention at radio, including being in the top five most requested at KCRW, Live 105, KEXP, and WRAS (they're all pretty influential), then this week's performance on David Letterman (12/1), a stop on our stage, and then a well deserved break before the rest of the wave hits for them in 2007. This in-store started off as a solo acoustic set from singer Brian Aubert, but it's looking like a few of the others in the band may be stopping in to add a bit extra to this, still mainly acoustic, set. If you like the idea of classic shoegaze rock with California melting pot cool, this is one you won't want to miss.
Points of reference: Rogue Wave with a major fuzz fetish, Isn't Anything-era My Bloody Valentine, Secret Machines, Autolux, and for their ability to take you away, Ride, and Slowdive.
Some Recent press:
"Silversun Pickups show all that's possible when California sun shines on indie-rock shoegazers"
- Rolling Stone
"By turns darkly fuzzy and brightly melodic, Carnavas is an auspicious record that manages to evoke a collaboration between Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine, capturing the best of both without plagiarizing either."
- Liam Gowing (Spin)
