Sarah used to sing with Velocity Girl, but like so many before her, she grew beyond the wailing wall of sound; her latest release, City Morning Song, is full of groovy laid back beats, warm piano, sweeping strings and stately horns that give the songs a timeless classic pop feel. Imagine the Beach Boys if they were produced by Mary Tyler Moore. Or if Burt Bacharach wrote for horns and guitar - this is a record that would sit nicely next to work by Carole King, but the best thing I can offer about it this little anecdote: Starr came in while we were playing City Morning Song the other day, and she said, standing arms akimbo, "I feel like I'm in a movie and I just made a good decision." ...and that sums this up much better than I ever could.
