The Nightwatchman -- FREE INSTORE
The Nightwatchman In-store Performance
Sunday, 5/06, 4:00pm
** Wristband Event **
The Nightwatchman is Tom Morello, best known for his guitar playing with Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine (who have reunited for Coachella and the Rock The Bells festivals). With The Nightwatchman, Tom steps to center stage - okay, actually he takes over the stage; you see, Nightwatchman is Tom solo and acoustic for the first time - his politics and social conscience still very much in full effect, but instead of the full-blown arena rock of his band projects, the Nightwatchman is more likely to be standing with his guitar on the back of a stake-bed truck at a protest, ala Woody Guthrie. Tom solo walks ground that has been marked by the footsteps of Pete Seeger, the aforementioned Woody Guthrie, Billy Bragg and the punk meets politics ethos of New Model Army. It is going to be difficult to escape the comparisons to Tom Joad and Nebraska era Bruce Springsteen, especially in the live setting, but Tom trades Springsteen's everyman character sketches for the rallying call of everyman politics; a one-man revolution, indeed.
This will be a wristband event, wristbands are available free with pre-order or purchase of Tom Morello's One Man Revolution album, which hits the shelves on April 24th. Any remaining wristbands will be available first come, first served beginning Saturday, May 5th to anyone on the Fingerprints email list without purchase.
Tom's myspace page has tracks and release info.
"(The Nightwatchman's)...songs of bitterness and revenge are a dark response to a world in turmoil."
