Colbie is a young singer- songwriter from just up the road in the City of Angels and she proves that it isn't just high school boys who dream of learning to play an acoustic guitar so they can sit by a bonfire and impress their friends. Colbie is the Hollywood version of a California girl next door; smart, talented, and Fox television cute. Her songs recall the carefree beach vibe of Tristan Prettyman, with a little bit of that thing that made an understated Jewel a household name. Although her music is acoustic-based, the arrangements go much deeper, pulling bits from traditional folk, jazz & pop, and mixing it with her distinguished breathy vocals. She counts Lauren Hill, The Weepies, Bob Marley, and John Mayer as influences, but probably needs to add Jack Johnson because anything that feels this much like the beach likely has something to do with Jack.
