MATT COSTA -- FREE INSTORE
6:30pm
(Free wristband required)
After too long of a break, we are extremely happy to welcome Matt Costa back, for his Brushfire Records release of "Songs We Sing", with 4 different tracks.
Not too long ago Matt stopped in and wowed the house with a solo acoustic performance, between tour dates opening for Jack Johnson; and we don't just throw around Jack's name for effect, besides inviting Matt out to open not only his US, but his UK tour, he is releasing Songs We Sing on his label, Brushfire Records. He also invited Matt to contribute a song to his latest release, the soundtrack to Curious George. But before it sounds like we're hyping Jack, make no mistake this is all about Matt. For those unfamiliar with Matt's music imagine a skateboard kid who spent his free time listening to Donavon records; now add in a touch of Al Stewart, some fabulous fingerpicked guitar, an appreciation of the Beatles, and an incidental peppering of the Shins and you're on the right track. Since this is likely to be a big deal, and we want to make sure we're able to give everyone a good shot at getting in (and spare anyone who isn't from coming down) we're requiring wristbands and calling this a private party. The good news is that wristbands are free and they're available now. They are limited so hurry down and get yourself all set up.

PETRA HAYDEN / DOS - Jensen Rec Center
The new venue that the Echo uses when they think things are gonna be too big, tonight is Petra's tribute to the Who's Sell Out album, along with Mike Watt and Kira, once again doing that old time thing they used to do.
LUCINDA WILLIAMS / TIM EASTON - El Rey
TURN ME ON DEADMAN - Echo
IRVING / LAVENDAR DIAMOND / GREAT NORTHERN - King King
Irving seems be around a bit, seeing as how they're locally based it shouldn't be too big a surprise, but they're pretty solid live. The story here though is the building buzz for the homespun, dirtfloor folk of Lavender Diamond and fellow tour mates Great Northern.
