Concretes -- FREE INSTORE

7:00pm (Free Wristband Required)

All the way from Sweden, we are very happy to be able to host The Concretes for a special semi-acoustic performance. The Concretes make music that falls comfortably between the twee-pop of Belle & Sebastian and the 60s girl group sound that provides the internal soundtrack to Phil Spector’s infamous misadventures. The Concretes music has a timeless sound, at once feeling fresh while still keeping enough of the beautiful old sound that makes the Ronnettes sound like they could still be standing in a circle somewhere, rocking the hell out of one of those big old studio mics. Their new record, In Colour, is full of the joys of spring, beautifully crafted concoctions of sunny melodies, plinking pianos and, the increasingly de rigueur pop instrument, the glockenspiel. It was produced by Bright Eyes member/producer Mike Mogis and features The Magic Numbers’ Romeo Stodart in a duet with lead vocalist Victoria Bergsman on one track.

This will be a private party for our regulars and those on the email list, so you will need to pick up a free wristband to be admitted. Wristbands are available now.

Some recent press:

“Technicolor Wall of Sound confections.” – URB

“Full of quietly vibrant moments.” – All Music Guide

“Rife with evocations of springtime and shooting stars and first loves.” – Filter

"There's a change in the weather" coos Victoria Bergsman. And she means it: The forlorn Swedish eight-piece band are suddenly sunny on their second Stateside full-length, which remakes their gauzy indie-pop with sprightly soul horns, sawing fiddles and chipper melodies" - Entertainment Weekly
